Creating the Rules
Step 1: To get started, go to https://yourportalname.campusesp.com/admin/workflow/upon_signup. You can also navigate here in the Admin area of your portal by clicking on Users --> User Import Rules. After you are on the page below labeled "Community Matching Rules," you should click “Add New Rule.”
Step 2: In this example, Class Year is our column field for entering a student’s class year. We can create our settings so that when the value of “First Year” is present in the class year column, those users are automatically imported into our “First Year Families” community. You should create a rule for each type of community that you want to move users into, based on the file. Once you have set up a rule, finish by clicking on “Create Rule.”
Implementing the Rules in a New User Import
Step 1: To see User Imports, go to https://yourportalname.campusesp.com/admin/user_imports. You can also navigate here in the Admin area of your portal by clicking on Users --> User Imports. Once you arrive at the page, click “New User Import.”
Step 2: Here you can add your CSV file with your user data. Once you have loaded in the file, you can click the “Next, Verify File” button. After clicking on the button, you can see a preview of how the system is reading the CSV file. If all looks good, then you can select the “Next, Select User Settings” button.
Step 3: On the next page, you can choose which community matching rules should apply. In this example, we should select the user import rules that we made in the last section. After selecting the rules, apply any other necessary import settings and click “Run the import now” when you’re ready.
Then, you can click "Continue to Email Settings to choose your email preferences or you can "Optionally, Set up Rules." For more details about these options, please visit our Guide to User Imports. For now, once you get to this page, click "Run the import now."
And that’s it! You have successfully imported families and assigned them to their intended groups.
