Emails in CampusESP now support the use of custom HTML in the Full Email Editor!
The Full Email Editor allows you to build your email from scratch giving you full control over the design and content of your emails. This tool is very powerful, and we only recommend using the Full Email Editor if you're very comfortable with email design! Use this tool to customize the look and feel of your emails to better match your institution’s brand and differentiate your emails from other institutions using CampusESP.
How to use custom HTML with the Full Email Editor
Step 1
Begin building your email as normal. Here’s our guide to emails in CampusESP! Once you reach the Design page, you can access the Full Email Editor. In the right-hand column, click the More Options icon (⋯) and choose Full Email Editor.
Note: If you have already created content in the Basic or Advanced Editor, you will lose that progress when switching to the Full Email Editor.
Step 2
The Full Email Editor will show a preview of a blank email that matches your portal’s default email template with a WYSIWYG editor.
Click the HTML icon on the far left of the toolbar to switch to the plaintext editor. Here you can enter/edit your custom HTML!
Note: We have a few requirements for custom HTML which are also outlined on the Full Email Editor page:
- To ensure that your email is CAN-SPAM compliant, please include the CampusESP mailing address and link for users to manage their subscription in the email footer.
30 South 15th Street, 14th Floor
Philadelphia, PA, 19102
Manage subscriptions - To ensure that open and click rates are tracked, please insert the invisible tracking pixel into this email.
If your email does not contain either of these, you will receive an error message with buttons to automatically insert them. You may need to toggle back to the WYSIWYG editor to enter these two requirements (see step 3).
Step 3
You can toggle the HTML icon on and off to switch from the plaintext editor to a preview of your email in the WYSIWYG editor.
The WYSIWYG editor includes all of the tools from the Basic and Advanced Editors (such as Mail Merge, Emoji, and AI-Powered Content), so you still have the same flexibility you’re used to with the content of your emails!
Step 4
Different email clients may render your email differently - please send yourself a preview of the email before scheduling! You can click the Send Preview link in the right-hand column to receive a preview of the email you are building in your inbox.
Step 5
Once you have finished building your email in the Full Email Editor, you can continue on to the Review and Schedule process as normal!
